California High-Speed Rail Corridor to Extend to Las Vegas

06 July 2009

The US states of California and Nevada have agreed to extend the California high-speed rail corridor from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

The extension is aimed at reducing the congestion on Interstate 15 (I-15) linking Southern California and Las Vegas and thereby boosting tourism.

The funding granted for the extension work will be part of the US Government's plan to give $8bn in funds for high-speed rail across the US.
