Bombardier to Supply 22 More Talent Trains to DB

03 July 2009

German rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) has awarded Bombardier Transportation a €100m contract to supply a further 22 Talent trains, to be deployed on the electrical network of the German region Franconia from 2011 onwards.

The five three-car, nine four-car and eight five-car Class 442 trainsets can reach speeds up to 160km/h and allow entrance heights of 800mm and 598mm, with sliding steps to bridge the gaps between the trains and suit the various platform heights found on the routes.

The trains have tactile lettering on all controls, designed to benefit passengers with impaired mobility, sight or hearing.

With this order, Bombardier will supply DB with a total of 98 Talent 2 trains, as part of a €1.2bn contract for up to 321 trains signed in 2007.
