ACS to Install Contactless Tickets for First Gulf Tram

02 July 2009

US IT services provider Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) will supply a 100% contactless ticketing system for the Persian Gulf's first tram line in Dubai.

ACS' public transportation division ACS Transportation Solutions Group has bagged the contract from French construction company Alstom, which is building the tram in the Gulf.

Under the contract, ACS will supply all the ticketing equipment including validation terminals, control terminals and vending machines that can issue and recharge contactless cards and sell single-use contactless tickets.

The equipment will be Arabic/English bilingual and comply with the accessibility and ergonomics standards defined by the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority.

ACS will also develop a central management system to monitor customer data, manage restrictive lists and security keys, and distribute revenues.

The network is scheduled to run in early 2011.
