Rail Net Denmark has awarded a DKK800m ($151m) joint contract to European consultant Atkins and Dutch firm Grontmij Carl Bro to design a rail project to run between Copenhagen Central and Vigerslev.
The project includes building two new main lines on a 5km section, an overhead catenary system and structures for passenger trains between Copenhagen Central and Vigerslev stations.
Atkins will also design interlocking engineering under the same project, involving about 20,000 hours of work.
The total work involves about 70,000 hours of work and is a part of the KØR project to upgrade capacity between Østerport and Ringsted stations.
The project is expected to be completed in 2012.
