Taipei Metro Neihu Line Inaugurated

01 July 2009

Chinese city Taipei's Metro Rapid Transit Corporation has inaugurated its 14.8km Neihu Line, the last segment of the city's 25km Metro project.

The fully automated Neihu Line, with ten above-ground and two underground stations, is an extension of the Muzha Line from its former terminus at Zhongshan Junior High School to Songshan Airport, Jiannan Road and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre.

Taiwan's Kung Sung Engineering Corporation was the prime contractor for the project while German company Bombardier was responsible for the design and supply of all electrical and mechanical systems.

Bombardier has also provided training for the operations staff of Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation and will provide a fleet of 202 vehicles, as well as the simultaneous retrofit of the Muzha Line.
