Canadian Transport Operator to Implement Real-time Rail Info System

01 July 2009

Canadian transport operator Agence metropolitaine de transport (AMT) will implement Canadian information provider Grey Island's real-time information system for rail commuters.

The transport operator has awarded a contract worth over $550,000 to Grey Island International to use its subsidiary company NextBus services to provide rail commuters with accurate information about the status of their trains.

It will also assist operators with historical and real-time schedule adherence data.

Grey Island executive vice-president Brian Boychuk said that the new system will be integrated with legacy equipment, customised to fit AMT user interfaces and will feed the information to a variety of customer interfaces including the web, SMS and LED and LCD signs.

"The system will give the AMT an open platform to share real-time passenger information with its partner transit agencies in the Montreal region," Boychuck said.
