Poland-based bus manufacturer Solaris will enter into the light rail market with its first 100% low-floor Tramino train.
The train will initially be available in 18.8m-long three-section and 31.7m five-section configurations.
The vehicle will be equipped with four 105kW asynchronous traction motors controlled by a three-phase ac traction converter, and will also feature a regenerative braking system.
Solaris has secured a $14.1m contract to supply six Traminos to the city of Szczecin in western Poland, which will be delivered at the end of 2010.
It also plans to offer the vehicle in other countries, including France and Romania.
