NJ Transit Orders Nine Additional Locomotives

12 June 2009

New Jersey Transit in the US has placed an additional $72m order for nine ALP-46A electric locomotives and spare parts with Bombardier Transit.

The agency previously placed an order for 27 ALP-46A locomotives worth $245m in December 2007, which included an option to purchase additional locomotives in the future.

The ALP-46A can pull ten multi-level cars in regular service compared to the older ALP-44, which can pull only six multi-level cars.

The first part of the order is expected to arrive in the beginning of 2010, and the complete delivery is expected in mid-2011.
