The Indian Railways directive not to stop trains in 33 smaller loss-making stations in Bihar has led to local violence, where 200 angry protesters torched three coaches of a train.
The Dhanapur intercity express was attacked by the protestors at Khusrupur station in Bihar 30km east of the Bihar capital, Patna.
The protesters also robbed the station and uprooted tracks.
Following the incident many trains have been delayed in the city and the decision not to stop at some remote stations is cancelled, reports the BBC website.
State-owned Indian railways are used by more than 6 billion people every day.
