GE Unveils Product Portfolio to Meet PTC Requirements

22 May 2009

GE Transportation has launched the Connection line of products and services to meet the positive train control (PTC) system requirements as per The Rail Safety Improvement Act.

The new Connection line will help railroads prevent train-to-train collisions, over-speed derailments, incursions into established work zone limits and the movement of a train through a switch left in an improper position.

The connection portfolio of products and services include upgrades to locomotive onboard equipment, wayside devices, back-office control centres and communications infrastructure, and installations.

In addition, the company has created a website www.positivetraincontrol.com to share information on Federal Railroad Administration rulings and best practices and www.geptc.com for PTC updates.

The Act says that all US railroads should be PTC compliant by 2015.
