Pakistan Launches "Islamabad Express"

14 May 2009

Pakistan launched "Islamabad Express" on 13 May 2009 to provide more facilities to passengers travelling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The Minister of railways, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said that the service "will help in reducing the hardships of the local people who suffer due to a shortage of a proper transport system in the twin cities."

The Islamabad Express will run daily from Islamabad to Lahore and will take four hours to reach its destination.

The minister also said that the train service from Islamabad to Lahore would be expanded if the Islamabad Express showed some success.
