Midwest states in the US have pledged their support to proposals for a high-speed rail network.
The governors of Midwestern states have written to the US Department of Transportation, stating the advantages of a high-speed rail network that would link cities around the region with Chicago as a central hub.
The proposed Midwestern network would be 3,000 miles long and would link metropolitan areas with airports and bus stations. If it goes ahead it will run trains travelling at 110 miles per hour.
