US Authority to Install Passenger Info System

15 April 2009

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in the US will install a new public-address and customer information system at Maryland Area Rail Commuter (MARC) stations to provide passengers with real-time information about train services.

The $6m project involves installing audio systems and electronic message signs that interface with the existing MARC TRACKER system to provide specific information about individual stations, schedule changes, approaching trains and safety messages.

The equipment will be installed by Baltimore's Intelect by the end of April 2009.
