Thales to Upgrade Brussels Metro Systems

Belgium's Brussels public transport authority STIB is to upgrade traffic control systems used on two of the capital's metro lines.

The STIB has awarded a two-year contract to international electronics and systems group Thales to modernise the existing system and provide identical functionalities, the company has announced.

The proposed traffic control system is built around the Thales SCADASoft platform and commissioning is scheduled for February 2009.
