Siemens to Run Freight Trains on Betuwe Line

09 April 2008

Siemens locomotives will soon be running on the Dutch Betuwe freight route, Mitsui Rail Capital Europe BV (MRCE) has announced.

The Betuwe route, a new freight rail line that links the port of Rotterdam with the German rail network, has been in operation since mid-2007.

MRCE, parent company of MRCE Dispolok GmbH, is to install Alstom's ERTMS systems in the Siemens multi-system trains.

The trains are the first to be granted an unconditional operating license by the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.
