Rail Workers Join Mass Strikes in Greece

20 March 2008

Rail drivers in Greece have joined thousands of other workers in walk outs over proposed changes to Greece's pension programme.

Routine activity ground to a halt across the country as labour unions protested changes to pensions and more than 10,000 people gathered in central Athens for today's rally and march.

Parliament is set to vote on the government's draft pension bil, set to merge more than 100 social security and pension funds and raise retirement age in some sectors.
