German Rail Workers Threaten More Strikes

05 March 2008

German rail union GDL is threatening to strike next week after a breakdown in talks with state-owned railway Deutsche Bahn.

GDL is accusing Deutsche Bahn of imposing further conditions to an accord agreed in January, writes AFP.

The news comes as German public sector workers stage a massive strike affecting airports and other services.

This latest dispute follows Germany's biggest-ever rail strike last November, which cost the country's economy an estimated €75m.
