Siemens Lands US$184m US Light Rail Deal

05 February 2008

Siemens has signed its largest US light rail order with a US$184m (€125m) deal to deliver trains for a new light rail line in Denver, Colorado.

The 55 light rail vehicles will be used as part of Denver's new West Corridor, a transportation project involving the construction of a 12-mile-long transit line.

The trains will be built at the Siemens facility in Sacramento, California, and are due to be delivered between 2009 and 2012.

At the end of last year, Canadian transit operator, Go Transit, signed a €140m deal with the Siemens to upgrade the signalling and communications equipment for Toronto's Union Station.
