The boss of Virgin Trains will deliver an attack on rail maintenance company Network Rail today after overrunning engineering works caused severe disruption over the New Year.
In a meeting with ministers on the UK Government's Transport Select Committee, Tony Collins is expected to heavily criticise Network Rail following an enquiry he has set up into the overruns at Rugby station in the north of England and Liverpool Street station in London.
The late running cost Virgin ВЈ6m in lost revenue, which the company is expected to try to claim back.
The Virgin Trains boss is appearing in front of the committee as part of a wider inquiry into a 30-year strategy for the railways.
A report by rail watchdog The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) investigating Network Rail will be published in February.
