New Zealand is beefing up its commuter rail network following a deal to buy NZ$210m (US$160.8m) worth of new trains for capital city, Wellington.
Local government authority the Greater Wellington Regional Council has signed an agreement with Korean consortium Rotem Mitsui to buy 70 electric commuter trains, costing NZ$3m each.
The government has also announced it will be upgrading tracks to increase capacity before the new trains are delivered in 2010.
