Bombardier Wins US$140m Supply Contract

09 November 2007

Canadian-based rail manufacturer Bombardier Transportation will supply fleet operations services for Canada’s Greater Toronto Transit Authority (GO Transit) in a €95m (US$140m) contract.

Bombardier will be responsible for maintaining train operations in addition to managing crews on six of GO Transit’s seven commuter rail lines.

The company is also planning to recruit for more than 100 train operator positions and several supervisory jobs.

GO Transit’s rail transit system carries an estimated 165,000 passengers each weekday via 181 trains, seven lines, 57 stations and rail routes totalling more than 360km.

Bombardier previously supplied 400 BiLevel commuter rail coaches which make up the transit authority’s commuter rail fleet.
