UK-based glass manufacturer Independent Glass has introduced a new range of laminated safety glass for use on commuter trains.
The glass units can be used to replace existing 18mm thick panes without increasing the weight of glazing or changing window frames and are available in all shapes, the company says.
The glass has been manufactured to meet new body side glazing requirements introduced this year by the UK Rail Safety Standards Board, which says all new passenger carrying vehicles and existing vehicles with toughened glass should be fitted with laminated double glazing units in windows.
Independent Glass is showcasing its new laminated glass at this year's Railway Interiors Expo in Germany, where it is also displaying its hi-tech precision glass processing equipment used to create original designs and silhouettes on glass panes.
