Lighting technology company CML Innovative Technologies (CML-IT) has launched a range of light indicators for trains, designed for increased energy efficiency.
Using traditional light emitting diode (LED) technology, CML's light modules have an increased life of approximately 5,0000h compared to 3,000h for traditional incandescent lights, the company says.
Showcasing the technology at the Railway Interiors Expo in Germany this week, CML says the light modules can operate with an 80 percent reduction in energy consumption.
The light systems are part of CML's Connect&Glo programme, a system of LEDs mounted on printed circuit boards (PCBs) designed to be mounted to different shapes.
The LED lights are designed for use as reading lights in carriages but can also be used for general illumination applications in train interiors.
