A union representing rail workers says more work needs to be done to address a skills shortage at Queensland Rail (QR).
The statement follows discussions between QR and the Rail, Tram and Bus Union after 94 trade workers were not considered for trainee locomotive positions because QR could not afford to lose their skills from the work force, according to Australian news reports.
The next battle is over fairer rates of pay, the rail union told Australia's ABC news.
