Eurostar Sets New Record

04 September 2007

A Eurostar broke the Paris to London rail record today on the UK's first high-speed rail line.

The Eurostar travelled to the new St Pancras International station in London at speeds of over 200mph.

The 186mph (300km/h) line is expected to cut journey times from Paris to London by 20mins to 2hr 15min.

Construction of the line and revamping St Pancras station has cost ВЈ5.8bn and has experienced major engineering challenges.

The service is expected to open to the public on 14 November.
