Middle East Rail Costs Rise

29 August 2007

Rail projects in the Middle East are costing billions more than anticipated as rapid population growth and road traffic congestion mean governments are investing more money in light and mass transportation.

The Dubai Metro rail project is expected to cost $3.9bn with other projects in the Middle East and North Africa (known as the MENA region), reaching $30bn according to Gulf News.
