India Plans Rail Revamp

27 July 2007

India has approved extensive plans to develop Greenfield railway terminals in Lucknow, New Dehli, Chennai, Howrah, Mumbai CST, Bangalore and Bhopal under a plan by the Indian Committee of Infrastructure to modernise its rail transport systems.

Blueprints are already being worked on for the station at New Dehli, which is carried out under a private and public partnership.

The stations, once completed, will include shopping and food outlets, as well as budget hotels and retiring rooms, along with a number of design aspects to cater for in- and out-bound passengers and the easing of traffic congestion.
