Spanish Train Lines to go Underground in Alicante

11 April 2007

The Spanish Minister for Development, Magdalena Álvarez, has announced that the second phase of placing Alicante’s train lines underground at the city station will get underway next year.

Both the high speed AVE and conventional tracks will be placed underground, but the Minister was unable to give a date by when AVE services to Madrid would be operational. She only said that the Valencia link would be ready in 2010.

The Minister also said that the Ministry had nothing to say regarding the controversy of the planned bio diesel plant in Alicante Port.
