East Coast Trains Implements Interfleet’s Monitoring System

17 February 2011

UK rail operator East Coast Trains will install the new Guru system developed by Interfleet Technology to improve and monitor the performance of its rail fleet.

Guru encompasses remote condition monitoring, energy metering and interactive software and allows East Coast Trains to help deliver reductions in train maintenance costs, energy usage, rolling stock reliability and detection of infrastructure faults.

It also provides access to live and archived data, and has a remote train diagnostics system.

The software, provided by Interfleet's partner Nexala, shows information about fleet and set status, operations analysis, cab status, live electrical schematics, data channels, fleet location and energy reporting.

Communications between train and shore is provided by Interfleet's Wi-Fi partner Icomera, whose Wi-Fi system is already fitted to the whole of the East Coast train fleet, while the energy metering equipment is being supplied by FAR Systems Spa.
