mBlox, along with Raileasy and Concept Data Technologies (CDT), has developed a new rail ticketing mobile application in the UK on over 90% of mobile phones including Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
The application can be downloaded from the Raileasy website and can be used to review rail timetables and buy tickets through registered credit cards while on the move.
Raileasy uses mBlox's Sender-Pays Data service, which ensures consumers pay only the price of the ticket without incurring any data charges.
Unlike existing mobile ticket systems, the Raileasy application does not rely on a mobile web browser to access the internet, speeding up the purchasing process for the end-user.
Purchasing tickets using the Raileasy application will also be secure, and protected by embedding credit card details in the phone, to only be accessed by using a personal identification number (PIN) and card security numbers.
The technology has been future-proofed with the ability to produce barcodes, which will activate appropriate station gates removing the need for travel tickets.
