UK rail service provider East Coast has unveiled a new plan which will have 19 new services per weekday from 22 May 2011, creating three million additional train seats per year between the north eastern UK and London.
East Coast will begin extra routes from six stations in the North-East and North Yorkshire to London and they will bring an improved frequency and pattern of services and faster journeys.
The changes will include a new non-stop, early morning four-hour Flying Scotsman express service between Edinburgh and London, calling only at Newcastle.
There will be 11 new non-step services per day between York and London, with a northbound direct service from London to Harrogate, and a new daily Lincoln to London return service.
A train every 30 minutes between Leeds and London King’s Cross, with 65 services per weekday between West Yorkshire and the capital, will also be included among others, according to thenorthernecho.co.uk.
