Universal Allocates Funds for Zambian Rail Line

Steel producing firm Universal Mining and Chemical Industries has allocated $100m to construct a railway line from Lusaka to Mumbwa district in Zambia.

The funds will be mainly used for feasibility studies, geological investigations and exploration works, which are expected to commence this year.

The aim is for the line to boost the transportation of iron ore and steel from the respective sites to markets.

The total cost of the project has not been disclosed, according to ukzambians.co.uk.
