Queensland Suspends Rail Operations Due to Cyclone

04 February 2011

Cyclone Yasi has hit the flood-ravaged Australian state of Queensland, leading to the closure of the state's rail network.

Rail haulage group QR National has temporarily suspended services on two coal rail networks after three Queensland coal port terminals were shut.

QR National services are currently suspended on the Newlands and Goonyella coal rail networks, the North Coast line between Rockhampton and Cairns, and the North West line between Townsville and Mount Isa.
