Adani Signs Railway Line Deal in Indonesia

28 January 2011

Adani Enterprises has signed a contract to build a rail project in Indonesia.

The project will be undertaken by PT Adani Global, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.

The $1.65bn project involves building a 250km railway line to transport and shipload up to 60 million metric tons of coal.

The project will be complete in four years and involves developing the required port infrastructure in the country.

Under the deal, Indonesia's coal mining company, PT Bukit Asam, will sell 60% of its coal from the Tanjung Enim area to Adani for about 30 years, in exchange for financing the railway.
