Upgraded UK Rail Station Opens

26 January 2011

The newly upgraded Hounslow station in the UK has opened following the completion of modernisation work.

The old station building has been modernised by enhancing its original features to create a larger booking hall, accessibility improvements, ticket office and new signage.

A new ramp has been installed on the car park-side of the station to allow all passengers to access the platform.

Other benefits include the installation of a new, environmentally friendly lighting system which uses up to 60% less energy than traditional lights.

The ВЈ650,000 ($1m) four-month joint refurbishment scheme was delivered by South West Trains working in partnership with the Department for Transport, London Borough of Hounslow and Network Rail.
