The 5km-long Sarita Vihar to Badarpur section of the Delhi Metro's Violet line in India has been opened following statutory safety clearance.
The section comprises Mohan Estate, Tughlakabad and Badarpur elevated stations.
The opening of the section extends the Central Secretariat–Badarpur corridor to 20.16km long, with 16 Metro stations.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation estimates that the line will increase footfall on the Central Secretariat–Badarpur line by another 100,000 from 125,000.
The fleet will be increased from 16 to 20, with the addition of four additional standard gauge trains having a peak hour frequency of 4min.
