US rail technology company Wabtec Corporation has acquired Brazilian rail traffic friction products company Adantech Industria e Comercio de Metal.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, though the acquisition closed on 31 December 2010.
Wabtec said the acquisition will enable it to continue to expand its presence in Brazil, the largest rail market in South America.
Adantech manufactures a variety of pads and brake shoes for subway cars, locomotives and freight cars and serves transit and freight markets, primarily in the aftermarket services.
