KBR Enters Alliance for Australian Rail Extension Project

06 January 2011

KBR's Australia-based infrastructure and minerals business unit has joined an alliance to deliver the South Morang rail extension project in Victoria, Australia.

The other members in the alliance include John Holland and Aecom, as well as the Department of Transport, Metro Trains and VicRoads.

KBR will provide design, environmental management, and risk management services, and will also serve on the alliance’s management and leadership teams.

The state of Victoria has allocated more than A$650m (US$652m) to the rail extension project, which will include the duplication of the 5km single track Epping line from Keon park to Epping and a 3.5km double track extension to South Morang.

The project also includes new stations at Thomastown, Epping and South Morang and road overpasses at Cooper Street in Epping, Pindari Avenue in Mill Park and Civic Drive in South Morang.

Construction works began last year and the project is expected to be complete in late 2012.
