Taiwan High-Speed Rail Line Opened

The Shalun Branch Rail Line in Taiwan has opened ahead of its original schedule of February 2011.

The line is located between Tainan City and Tainan Station and will provide outside access transportation services.

The 6.52km-long line is the Taiwan Railway Administration’s first branch line, extending from the north side of Zhongzhou Station to Tainan Station.

The project also includes renovations to Zhongzhou, two elevated stations at Chang Jung Christian University and Shalun, whole line elevated ballast-free track, whole line electrification and signal automation.
