UK rail operator Southeastern has announced that its high-speed service made over 7.2 million journeys in its first year.
On the first anniversary of the start of the service between London and Kent, the train operator revealed about 16% of the journeys made on high-speed rail were made by passengers who had not used the train before.
An independent survey by rail consumer watchdog Passenger Focus showed that 95% of passengers believe the service of Hitachi-built class 395 trains is good or very good.
The percentage of all journeys to London using high speed trains from stations over the last month show that from Canterbury 67% of journeys were made by high-speed train, followed by Ashford International (66%), Folkestone (66%), Dover Priory (64%), Ramsgate (55%), Broadstairs (47%) and Strood (41%).
