Greenbrier Sees Railcar Demand Rise

15 December 2010

US rail freight wagon manufacturer Greenbrier Companies has received contracts to deliver 2,000 railcars, at a combined value of $135m.

The orders are for covered hopper cars of various types, most of which are scheduled to be delivered in 2011.

The company said the orders are in addition to the $200m-worth of orders for 3,200 railcars received in September and October.

Greenbrie will ramp up its production rates from January 2011 and will open an additional production line in the second quarter of 2011 to support the increase in demand.
