Preliminary Work on Rail Line Extension Begins in Australia

13 December 2010

Civil engineering contractor R J Vincent and Co has received a A$6m contract to begin preliminary work on 4km of rail corridor to extend the A$240.7m Joondalup passenger railway line in Perth, Australia.

The work, expected to be complete in 15 months, includes earthworks for the railway alignment from the Public Transport Authority's Nowergup railcar depot in Hester Avenue, Clarkson, to join with existing earthworks carried out in 2008 at Landbeach Boulevard, Butler.

This is the first of the primary contracts to extend the Joondalup Line 7.5km through the northern suburbs.

The new part of the line is expected to be operational by December 2014.
