Deutsche Bahn (DB) and China's Ministry of Railways (MOR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate more closely on rail freight transport and in expanding the Chinese rail infrastructure.
The parties agreed to strengthen rail freight transport and to step up the establishment of new transports between Asia and Europe through closer cooperation.
Under the MoU, DB subsidiary DB International will offer its consulting, planning, construction supervision and project management support to China during the expansion and construction of its new high-speed network.
DB noted the aim is also to involve the Russian Railways to boost trans-Eurasian rail freight transports.
The deal comes after China's recent agreement with Bombardier to collaborate on rolling stock and the development of signalling systems in the country.
