DART Deploys Automated Surveillance Technology

03 December 2010

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in the US has deployed automated surveillance technology to provide perimeter security and prevent vandalism at the transit system's north-west rail operations facility.

DART security personnel can pre-empt potential security policy violations to ensure the integrity of the rail system through the video intrusion detection system, developed by SightLogix.

SightLogix video thermal sight sensors provide situational awareness and enables the integration of video and alarm information for display onto the existing Genetec video management system, according to the manufacturer.

Thermal SightSensors consist of a thermal imager, lens optics, electronic stabilisation, on-board image processing, video analytics software, a camera control and geospatial target tracking within a ruggedised NEMA 4X nitrogen-pressurised housing.

Kratos Southwest won the public bid for the DART contract.
