German Firm Wins Taiwan Railway Systems Deal

02 December 2010

Taiwanese steel maker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has selected German simulation services provider VI-grade to provide its suite of railway simulation systems.

VI-Rail is a railway simulation software package that can build a parameterised model of a new railway vehicle, defining its suspension, wheelset, wheel-rail contact and other vital characteristics.

Running through a battery of simulations it is possible to determine the vehicle's stability, derailment safety clearance, track load and passenger comfort, according to VI-grade.

CSC recently won a service contract for Taiwan's Taipei Metro Rapid Transit system, and will use VI-Rail to offer multi-body dynamics simulation technology for the MRT rail vehicles.

VI-grade will work with the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology and the National Cheng Kung University for the project.
