Malaysia Awards Light Rail Extension Contracts

Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad has appointed contractors for two light rail transit line extension projects in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Trans Resources Corporation received a MYR950m ($301m) contract for the 17km extension of the Kelana Jaya line from Kelana Jaya station to Putra Heights, which includes 13 new stations.

The contract is expected to be complete in 30 months.

The government-owned company selected a joint venture (JV) between UEM Builders and Intria Bina as the sub-contractor for the fabrication and delivery of a segmental box girder at a contract value of MYR93.16m ($29.5m) and duration of 21 months.

It has also appointed Bina Puri Holdings and Tim Sekata JV as a contractor for a 17.7km extension for the Ampang LRT line between Sri Petaling to Putra Heights.

The contract value is MYR634.64m ($201m) and the duration is 27 months.

Bina Puri and Tim Sekata JV has also been appointed the sub-contractor for the fabrication and delivery of segmental box girders for the Ampang LRT line. The contract value is MYR67.69m ($21m) and the duration of the contract is 19 months.

Within the total contract value, the main contractors will also manage the nominated sub-contractors for contracts worth MYR469m ($148.7m) for Kelana Jaya Line and MYR305m ($96.7m) for Ampang Line.
