Alstom to Deliver Signalling System for Shanghai Metro Line

30 November 2010

Alstom and its Chinese joint venture CASCO have signed a €22.5m ($29.86m) contract with Shanghai metro operator Shentong to supply signalling systems for the first phase of Line 13 of the Shanghai metro network in China.

Alstom will provide equipment and services for the ATC subsystem from its Urbalis application, an advanced communication-based train control system that integrates network communications with data transmission by radio.

Shanghai Metro Line 13's first phase will be equipped with Urbalis, which can increase the capacity of lines, ensuring optimal safety, flexible operations and improved passenger comfort, according to Alstom.

Line 13's first phase from the north-west to the south-east of Shanghai will be 16.4km in length with 14 stations and 24 metro trains.
