An Aecon Group-led consortium has secured a $279m contract from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to complete the first phase of the Toronto-York Spadina subway extension in Ontario, Canada.
Under the joint venture, Aecon will extend the TTC's Spadina subway line from the existing Downsview station to Sheppard West station and on to Finch West station.
The contract includes the construction of Sheppard West station, and an integrated subway/GO Transit rail station at Downsview Park.
The 110,000ft2, three-storey station will be constructed by Aecon Buildings.
Aecon will work with McNally Construction and Kiewit Construction to construct a twin 2.6km tunnel subway track from the north end of Downsview station.
Construction will commence in December 2010, and is predicted to be complete by 2014.
