Designs have been unveiled of eight Crossrail stations to be built across central London and Docklands in the UK along the ВЈ16bn ($25.6bn) Crossrail route.
The stations include Bond Street, Canary Wharf, Custom House, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Paddington, Tottenham Court Road and Whitechapel.
Crossrail said the stations will provide larger station entrances and ticket halls, more space and easy access to transport services.
On completion in 2017, an estimated 200 million passengers will travel on Crossrail each year, and Crossrail expects to run up to 24 trains an hour between Paddington and Whitechapel stations during peak times.
A key element of the designs is the regeneration of a number of locations including Paddington, the West End, Farringdon and Whitechapel, as well as improved public areas at street level.
According to Crossrail, Paddington station will provide an easy interchange between Crossrail, National Rail and the London Underground, and will deliver an improved new pedestrian entrance to Paddington mainline station and a new Hammersmith and City line station.
Custom House will be a new station for passengers in the east, acting as a gateway for London and will be the only new Crossrail station where platforms are above ground, while Whitechapel station will feature a new step-free access walkway connecting to the north of the area.
