Hollysys Automation Technologies has signed a CNY201.71m ($30.45m) contract to supply 300km/h-350km/h high-speed rail automatic train protection (ATP) systems in China.
The ATPs will be delivered to the Ministry of Railways of China and will ensure the safety and reliability of high-speed railway traffic and operation, according to Hollysys.
The high-speed rail signalling system consists an on-board ATP installed at the front and tail end of each train, and a ground-based train control centre (TCC), installed along the track.
The TCC collects information about the track condition and speed limit and compiles it into a digital file and sends it to the ATP, which generates a driving instruction curve for the train regarding speed limits, slopes and turns before it enters the next radio block.
Hollysys says the ATP can also trigger emergency breaks if it detects a danger ahead or a potential collision.
The delivery will be between May and November 2011.
